The Cazenovia College Men's Basketball team was unable to recover from Utica Colleges strong start as the team would drop their home opener 72 to 56. With the win the Pioneers improve to 4-0 on the year while the Wildcats drop to 1-3 overall.
Utica would come out strong in the first half as they would hold a 38 to 17 halftime lead going into the locker rooms. The Pioneers would shoot 40% from the field while holding the Wildcats to just 22%. Things would change in the second half as the Wildcats defense would cause problems for the Pioneers which would lead to easy baskets on the offensive end. The Wildcats defense would hold the Pioneers to just 6 baskets made in the second half, while the Wildcats would shoot 45%. But the halftime deficit was to much for Cazenovia as they would fall to Utica 72 to 56.
The Wildcats were led by junior Blake Bagozzi
who came off the bench and was 3 for 6 from behind the arc. Bagozzi would finish the game with 11 points scored and 4 rebounds. Junior Will Cutler
would finish with 7 points and 6 rebounds for Cazenovia College, while senior Brian Hudson
finished with 5 points and 6 rebounds.
Senior Nicholas Filippi
would lead the Wildcats with 4 assists, while freshman Majesty Wilder
would come off the bench to lead the Wildcats with 2 steals in the game.
The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday November 28th
when they travel to SUNY Poly for their conference opener.
