The Cazenovia College women's basketball team was unable to hold onto their early lead as they drop their first conference game to SUNY Poly on Wednesday night 75-52. With the win SUNY Poly improves to 2-3 on the year and 1-0 in conference, while Cazenovia drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in NEAC play.
The Wildcats jumped to an early lead in the first quarter as they would lead by as many as 8 points. SUNY Poly would hit a 3 pointer at the buzzard to cut the Wildcats lead down to just 3 after the first quarter. Cazenovia jump out to another 8-point lead, but the Wildcats of SUNY Poly would battle back to take the lead going into halftime. Cazenovia would continue to fight the rest of the game but were unable to overcome SUNY poly's tough defense as they would drop their first NEAC game of the year.
Senior Morgan DeLand
would lead the Wildcats with 18 points while pulling down 9 rebounds. Junior Amy Holland
was the only other Wildcat to score double digits as she finished with 11 points. Holland finished 3 for 4 behind the arc for the Wildcats.
Senior Anne Tokos
would come off the bench and pull down 8 rebound for Cazenovia College. Sophomore Danielle Caivana
would lead the Wildcats with 4 assists, while junior Alexis Tubbs dished out 3 assists.
The Cazenovia College women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday December 1st
as they host Keuka College at 1pm.
